Conference wrap-up
The Cultural Diversity in Ageing Conference 2018 was held on Friday 15 June 2018 at the iconic Arts Centre Melbourne. The theme, Setting Standards, showcased the latest range of initiatives and resources that can support inclusive practice in the aged care sector. Our broad ranging presenters provided an overview of current government policy directions, updates on resources available and the latest developments in achieving excellence in service provision.

Awarded for excellence
We were thrilled to award the winners and finalists for the Cultural Diversity in Ageing Excellence Awards 2018 at our conference dinner. Congratulations to all the organisations and individuals who demonstrated outstanding work in recognising and promoting the provision of culturally inclusive aged care services. We were inspired by the number of nominations we received and are heartened to see the great work going on around Australia.

Inclusive Service Standards
An Organisational Audit Tool has been added to the suite of resources on the Inclusive Service Standards. The tool sets out a series of performance measures designed to assist service providers to meet the Inclusive Service Standards. Using this tool organisations are able to review current practices against each measure, identify areas for improvement and undertake further planning and development.

New practice guide
A new practice guide has been published to assist aged care services to develop a policy for use of interpreter services for their organisation. The guide includes a sample policy template which can be adapted to suit the needs of individual organisations.

My Health Record Multilingual Information
The Australian government has released information about My Health Record in a number of languages other than English.

Health Translations
Health Translations enables health practitioners and those working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities to easily find translated health information.

Cross-Cultural Responsiveness Training
The Brotherhood of St Laurence is offering training sessions on Cross-Cultural Responsiveness to service providers who want to improve their ability to work with culturally diverse individuals and families. Upcoming sessions are in Frankston and Epping.

Workforce Forum
Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV) is hosting a multicultural workforce forum exploring challenges and opportunities for culturally diverse aged care providers.

Flinders University is hosting the 5th International Conference on Ageing in a Foreign Land. With the theme Ageing Well Through Communities, Capacity and Innovation the conference will be held in Adelaide on 19 and 20 June 2019.
